Maximum Benefit pet insurance, sometimes called per-condition cover, gives each eligible new condition its own veterinary-fee limit. Argos currently offers two Maximum Benefit levels for both cats and dogs: £2,000 or £5,000 per condition.

How Maximum Benefit cover works
Each eligible condition has its own fixed pot. You can claim for treatment of that condition until the selected £2,000 or £5,000 limit has been used. There is no 12-month condition window, so the pot can remain available for the condition while the policy continues and the terms are met. However, the limit does not reset each year. Once it is exhausted for that condition, further treatment for the same or related condition is not covered.
Maximum Benefit vet-fee levels
| Pet | Maximum Benefit options | Limit basis |
|---|---|---|
| Dogs | £2,000 or £5,000 | Per eligible condition; no 12-month condition window; no annual reset of that condition limit |
| Cats | £2,000 or £5,000 | Per eligible condition; no 12-month condition window; no annual reset of that condition limit |
Maximum Benefit compared with Time Limited and Lifetime
Time Limited cover provides £2,500 or £4,000 per eligible condition for up to 12 months. Maximum Benefit provides £2,000 or £5,000 per condition without that 12-month condition window, but the pot does not reset. Lifetime cover provides an annual allowance — currently £2,000, £4,500 or £7,000 for dogs and £1,000, £3,500 or £7,000 for cats — which can reset at renewal subject to policy terms.
What else may be included
- 24/7 access to Argos Vet Assistance.
- Access to the Argos Pet Portal.
- Eligible veterinary fees including certain dental, complementary treatment, physiotherapy and behavioural illness benefits, subject to policy terms.
- Missing-pet, theft or straying, boarding and selected travel benefits can apply depending on the pet and cover.
- Dog cover can include third-party liability and legal costs, subject to limits and exclusions.
Is Maximum Benefit right for your pet?
Maximum Benefit can appeal if you want a condition-specific pot without a 12-month treatment deadline. The trade-off is that the pot is finite and does not replenish for the same condition. Compare this with Lifetime cover if ongoing annual renewal of the veterinary-fee allowance matters to you, and with Time Limited cover if you prefer a shorter defined treatment window.
